Canoeing on the Ottawa river between Oka and Hudson

Oka and Hudson are across each other on the Ottawa river around 40-50 km upstream Montreal island. Boat and canoe landing are possible in Oka beside the church. The ferry is privately own and the owner was not to keen for us to stop by canoe and take pictures for security reasons. Beware of boats when crossing. A bit upstream of Oka the river is narrower and much safer to cross. Beware of wind. Normally blows from left (west) to right (east). A lot of salling during summer which makes it more canoe friendly than other big water plan in Quebec and Ontario. Oka village around the church very nice.
